新加坡国立大学工业与系统工程学系博士后招聘
Job Description Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) as a Research Fellow/Associate. The successful candidate will join a team composed of researchers from NUS, Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART).
Project
This project concerns the development of a simulation game to study decision-making dynamics in the design and management of mobility on-demand systems to ensure first and last mile connectivity to main transportation nodes (e.g. vehicle sharing systems). Such systems are relatively new in modern cities of the world. They face significant challenges and uncertainty in terms of infrastructure deployment and management (e.g. siting of vehicle sharing facilities, capacity allocation in different sites), technology, regulations, market demands, etc. The research will help understand the fundamental cognitive forces, challenges, and limitations at work whenever designers and decision-makers aim to design, deploy, and manage such system in the long term (+10 years). The platform will be used to evaluate experimentally novel training procedures to design and manage such complex systems under uncertainty by exploiting novel ideas related to flexibility in engineering design, and real options analysis. The aim is to develop and evaluate tools improving lifecycle performance by recognizing uncertainty more explicitly, and planning for flexibility more systematically in early conceptual phases.
Position Details
The position is available for one year and up to two years, depending on performance. Salary is competitive with North American and European standards, and is commensurate with the candidate’s qualification and experience.
Requirements:
- PhD or Master’s degree in an Engineering discipline (e.g. Civil, Industrial, Mechanical, Operations Research, Systems, Urban Planning), or other relevant discipline like Computer Science - Good research background; strong analytical and operations research skills are a plus - Good scientific writing skills (English) - Good experience with Matlab, Java, or other relevant programming language is required - Experience in development of visualization and graphical user interface is a plus - Interest in conducting experiments with human subjects is required
Interested candidates should email a cover letter and resume (~2 pages), including professional objectives and a list of publication to macardin@nus.edu.sg and erikwilhelm@sutd.edu.sg – please use subject “RF/RA Application – Simulation Game Project”.
