Postdoctoral position in MS-based identification of secondary metabolites crucial in plant-endophyte interactions at the University of Cologne

The position is available as of now. The candidate will be responsible for the establishment of a mass spectrometry-based profiling platform for secondary metabolites in plants.

The position is offered in the context of the German Excellence Initiative which promotes outstanding research at German universities. CEPLAS is a joint effort of University of Cologne, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research Cologne and Forschungszentrum Jülich. Researchers of these institutions are pursuing inventive strategies for sustainable plant production. The position is located in the research team of Prof. Dr. Ulf-Ingo Flügge at the Cologne Biocenter of the University of Cologne.

Job Description: Exploration of metabolic interdependencies between Arabidopsis / Arabidopsis relatives and their root-asssociated endophytic community with special emphasis on glucosinolates, phenylpropanoids and terpenes.

Your Qualifications: PhD degree in Biochemistry / Plant Biology / Chemistry or a closely related field. Apart from sound expertise in Mass Spectrometry, knowledge in plant physiology, molecular biology and statistics/bioinformatics is desirable.

Payment is according to the German civil servant pay scale TV-L E13. The position is initially for 2 years. A prolongation is possible.
