Requirements/Pre-requisites
The Centre of Social Media Innovations for Communities (COSMIC) at the Nation
al University of Singapore has an immediate opening for a Research Fellow wit
h expertise in the areas of streaming media management and distribution, mobi
le video services, multimedia data management, multimedia analysis, or some r
elated field. The COSMIC centre is performing cutting edge research and deve
loping sophisticated applications in the areas of media management and distri
bution. Experience with open source systems, NoSQL databases, distributed pr
ogramming tools and network protocols are desired. The candidate should have
a PhD in the field of computer science. Additionally, a successful applican
t should have a strong commitment to research, strong development expertise,
and a publishing record commensurate with their qualifications and experience
. The candidate should have (or have the potential to develop) an internatio
nal standing in their field of research. The candidate should possess good c
ommunication skills in English, and be willing to work as part of an interdis
ciplinary research team of computer scientists and social scientists. The ap
pointment will start immediately and will be for one year, with a possibility
for extension for one or more additional years.
