The Distributed Systems Group in the Department of Informatics & Telecommunications at the University of Athens announces openings for Postdoctoral Researcher positions in the areas of distributed systems, privacy, and digital preservation. The positions will be funded by an ERC Starting Grant held by the PI (Prof. Mema Roussopoulos). Successful candidates will be offered a contract for one year with the possibility of renewal. Description
We are particularly interested in finding candidates with a strong background in systems and privacy as one of the main projects deals with the preservation of medical data. We are also interested in finding candidates with strong analytical skills to model and study the behavior of a widely-deployed peer-to-peer digital preservation system. Finally, we seek candidates to design, implement, and evaluate protocols for the preservation and management of large scientific data collections. Applicants should have a PhD degree in Computer Science, be fluent in English, and have a strong background in distributed systems and networking. Research expertise in privacy issues and/or fault tolerance techniques for distributed systems will be a significant plus.
