美国田纳西大学招聘生物物理学博士后
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Physics, University of Tennessee. The successful applicant will carry out interdisciplinary research at the interface of biophysics, cell biology and nanofabrication. The aim of this research is to understand self-organizing processes in bacteria through experiment and modeling. Our particular focus is to develop quantitative system level description of self-organizing processes involving cell division and chromosomal organization in Escherichia coli. We use cutting edge microscopy in combination with quantitative image analysis and complement experiments with numerical modeling of cellular processes. An important aspect of our work is development of nano/microfabricated fluidic devices for live cell studies that allow implementation of different physical and chemical stimuli to the cells. Fabrication of these devices will be carried out in nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in this work.
The applicant should have a PhD in physics or in related fields. Applicant’s previous experience with computational physics, nanofabrication or high resolution microscopy is desired. Considering the interdisciplinary nature of the research, the applicant should be enthusiastic about learning new methods and techniques.
The applicants should send a CV, cover letter describing research interests/relevant experience, and names of three references to Dr. Jaan Mannik at JMannik@utk.edu.
The University of Tennessee is a thriving research university. It is located near Oak Ridge National Laboratory and shares many joint institutes with it. The University is in scenic area close to Smoky Mountains National Park. |
