A post-doc position in LC/MS/MS-based quantification of proteins and small molecule markers is open in the Pharmaceutical Analysis and Proteomics Lab operated jointly by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SUNY-Buffalo (worldly-renowned for its leading role in PK/PD) and the New York Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences. The lab is conducting innovative proteomic and bioanalytical researches in the areas of clinical protein therapy, disease marker discovery and drug effects study, and possesses a number of state-of-the-art instrumentations such as LTQ/Orbitrap/ETD, highly sensitive triple-quads and a wide variety of chromatographic instruments. Additionally, many key LC/MS-based technical advances have been developed in the lab, with which the successful candidate can start his/her training. Job description:
• The successful candidate will be trained on nano- and micro- LC/MS quantification, FT-MS, sample preparation and targeted protein quantification.
• The projects include, but not limited to:
1. Develop novel methods for targeted quantification of therapeutic proteins (e.g. mAB and cytokines) in plasma and tissues;
2. Ultra-sensitive quantification of small molecule markers in clinical sets, using micro- or nano- LC/MS techniques.
3. Development of novel analytical methods for pharmaceutical analysis.
4. Ion-current-based discovery of disease and pharmaceutical biomarkers.
5. Some of the works could also be directed to the design and test of novel hardware.

Qualifications:
• Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry or related field, focusing on quantitative liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) strategies.
• In-depth understanding and extensive hand-on experiences on various mass spectrometers, such as linear ion trap, triple-quadrupole or LTQ/Orbitrap, are required.
• The candidate must have proven expertise in LC/MS-based quantitative analysis in clinical or biological samples;
• Strong background in chromatographic techniques, especially for resolving highly complex samples and handling various LC systems, are required;
• The candidate MUST have published at least 2 first-author papers on prestigious journals;
• The ability for programming (Pearl, Java, Oracle, etc) is desirable;
• The candidate should be hardworking, self-motivated and capable of conducting independent works, and has strong ability of problem-solving;
• Good communication skills.
