Our laboratory is looking for highly motivated postdoctoral fellows who are interested in cancer biology using zebrafish as a cancer model. Our current research focuses on two directions: 1. Identifying new cancer driver genes through comparative oncogenomic analysis of copy number alterations in both human and zebrafish tumors; 2. Biological consequences of aneuploidies and polyploidies in cancer development. The long term goal of our research is to study cancer in a vertebrate phylogenetic context, and discover new ways to treat cancer. Our research uses integrative approaches such as next-generation sequencing, microarray and bioinformatics analysis, zebrafish genetic modifications (transgenesis and mutagenesis), high-resolution imaging, and advanced cancer cell models and cultivation technologies.

The Department of Comparative Pathobiology and College of Veterinary Medicine are also an ideal home to accommodate comparative studies of cancer biology. The extensive interactions between our group and other faculty members nurture novel research ideas and opportunities.
Qualified applicants should have an advance degree (PhD, MD, DVM etc.) in cancer biology, cell biology, genetics/genomics, medicine or other related fields, and have a good record of scientific publications. Previous research experiences in animal cancer models, gene manipulations on human cancer cell lines, or zebrafish development are preferred. The successful candidate is expected to be highly motivated and to work independently.
