The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.
We are looking for an enthusiastic post-doctoral researcher to develop computational models of signalling pathways involved in synaptic ageing and Alzheimer Disease. The successful candidate will join the Signalling Institute Strategic Program and work in the group of Dr Nicolas Le Novère. The research activity of the group centres on understanding cellular signalling, in particular in neuronal systems, using computational models. The group also develop software resources for systems biology. The successful candidate will develop a modelling activity with the framework of the European project AgedBrainSYSBIO. This project aims at linking Genome Wide Association studies, Protein-Protein Interaction networks and functional studies in order to understand better the basis of the disease and propose new avenues for treatments. The post-holder will work in collaboration with the other members of the group. Several types of mathematical modelling techniques will be used.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in a scientific or technological field; will have experience with the main modelling tools used in systems biology and an in-depth knowledge of computer modelling and simulation. Experience of working with Linux and Unix is also essential. This is a limited term contract with funding expected to be available for 3 years.
