An exciting opportunity has arisen to join NPL’s dynamic Surface & Nanoanalysis Group. The Group has an expanding activity in mass spectrometry imaging and has recently launched a National Centre of Excellence in Mass Spectrometry Imaging (NiCE-MSI). NiCE-MSI is a joint partnership with the University of Nottingham. This post will form a key role in a team developing metrology for reliable matrix assisted laser desorption ionisation (MALDI) mass spectrometry imaging (MSI). This will include studying the fundamentals, technique development and applications to tissue imaging.
The position would suit someone with postdoctoral experience using MALDI either in applications or fundamentals. An aptitude for understanding the fundamentals and the details of the measurement processes would be of advantage. The post will provide an excellent environment for research leading to publications, dissemination and close interaction with the stakeholder community, including industry, academia, other national measurement institutes and standards bodies. It is expected that the appointee will contribute to funding applications and relevant commercial work.
This is a three year fixed-term post.
