澳大利亚联邦科学与工业研究组织招聘化学、生物医学博士后职位
Job Description
- Great opportunity to further develop your skills in research
- Work on development of new antimicrobial coatings for applications in biomedical materials and devices
- And help to make a difference!
CSIRO Materials Science Engineering is seeking to appoint a highly motivated graduate who will conduct research in the development of new antimicrobial coatings for applications in biomedical materials and devices. The successful candidate will explore new chemistries to produce polymer-based surface coatings that influence the biological response.
This is an excellent opportunity for the candidate to conduct fundamental science but also to contribute to the development of commercial applications.
More specifically you will be responsible for:
- Synthesis of peptides and small molecules and their characterisation.
- Development, manufacture and analysis of polymer-based multifunctional coatings.
- Screening of the biological response to these coatings, e.g. in cell culture and biofilm assays
- Produce high quality scientific and technical outputs including journal articles, conference papers and presentations, patents and technical reports.
- Develop innovative concepts and ideas for further research.
You will be mentored by senior scientists as part of CSIRO’s Postdoctoral Fellows Program which aims to train early career scientists for a research role. You will be expected to communicate the outcomes of your research through presentation of results at national and international conferences and publications in relevant scientific journals.
Location: Clayton, VIC
Salary: AU$81K – $88K per annum plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Ref No: VIC13/03591
Tenure: 3 years
To be successful you will have:
- A PhD, or will shortly satisfy the requirements for a PhD degree, in a relevant scientific discipline. Owing to the terms of CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellowships, you must not have more than 3 years relevant post doctoral experience.
- Demonstrated ability to safely conduct innovative research in synthetic polymer chemistry and surface coatings for biomedical applications.
- Demonstrated experience in organic and peptide synthesis.
- Demonstrated experience in surface characterisation techniques (incl. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy).
- Demonstrated originality, creativity and innovation in solving problems and introducing new directions and approaches.
