A postdoctoral training fellow research position is available for a candidate with experience in plant genetics, molecular and cell biology. This post is focused on exploring the molecular and genetic basis of 2-row vs. 6-row inflorescence determination in cultivated barley. The successful candidate will be responsible for pursuing the practical aims of the project and coordinating activities with collaborators.
Research experience in some of the following is desirable: plant tissue dissection, RNA and DNA isolations, in situ hybridisation, yeast-two-hybrid analysis, QRT-PCR, plant handling and making crosses. The post-holder will be encouraged to develop interactions with the academic and plant breeding communities, lead the preparation of manuscripts for peer review and engage in knowledge exchange activities.
*Appointment of this post will be made under the terms of the James Hutton Institute Post-Doctoral Development Scheme and is available for 3 years
This post is based in Dundee but there may be a requirement to travel between sites.
