You will join an up and coming research group exploring the molecular fundamentals of the virulence of Burkholderia pseudomallei. This organism is a significant developing world pathogen and a potential bioterror agent. You will be investigating three novel virulence related proteins from this organism; and will use a range of techniques to elucidate their structure and function, and their contribution to B. pseudomallei infection. This opportunity is suitable for those with a PhD in structural biology, biochemistry or molecular biology. Expertise in DNA cloning, protein expression and purification, and protein biochemistry will be essential. A strong background in structural biology, or experience in microbiology would also be very beneficial. You should be a confident, independent scientist with a broad knowledge of the discipline and contemporary research methods in biochemistry.
