Postdoctoral Research Fellow (OxCarre) University of Oxford - Oxford Centre for the Analysis of Resource Rich Economies (OxCarre) Department of Economics, Manor Road, Oxford Grade 7: £29,099 - £35,788 p.a. We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to start in January 2012, or as soon as possible thereafter, to work on economic analysis of public spending in developing economies, including scaling up in response to resource revenues and analysis of constraints on countries’ absorptive capacity. To engage in research to improve understanding of the performance of resource rich economies and to inform policy design to improve this performance. The successful candidate will have a doctorate or equivalent in Economics with specialist knowledge in the area of fiscal revenue management in resource rich economies, with particular reference to Africa; analytic and technical capabilities in modern economic methods; capability in statistical and econometric methods; interest in developing collaborative research within the general brief of OxCarre with partners in the UK and overseas; and a willingness to undertake policy analysis relevant to meeting the overall objectives of the programme. Knowledge of economic growth in African countries and evidence of research into aid dependency, with particular reference to Africa, would be desirable. This is a full-time position for a fixed-term of up to two years.
