PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Developmental Therapeutics Program’s primary emphasis is on drug discovery and characterization, identification of new therapeutic molecular targets and participation in the evaluation of samples and results from animal models with a goal of identifying drugs with potential therapeutic value.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Research will focus on the application of proteomics to the elucidation of cancer drug mechanism of action within the Drug Mechanism Group (DMG) of the Developmental Therapeutics Program (DTP). Primary responsibilities include design and execution of proteomic strategies (organellar isolation, SILAC, immunoprecipitation, affinity chromatography, phosphoproteomics, MRM) to identify pathways and proteins modulated by treatment with novel cancer agents followed by validation of results using classical cellular and molecular validation techniques.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Doctorate degree from an accredited college/university in a discipline related to biomedical research. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency. Prefer Doctorate degree in Proteomics and Molecular Biology/Chemistry/Cell Biology/Pharmacology. Experience in the operation and maintenance of mass spectrometers, direct experience with Thermo LTQ-Orbitrap/FT-based proteomic platforms is a distinct advantage. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Experience with classical cellular and molecular validation techniques with publications in proteomics, drug discovery or cancer biology preferred.
