job description
The Institute of Pharmacology and Structural Biology (www.ipbs.fr) has an open postdoctoral position to work with Isabelle Maridonneau-Parini on elucidating the molecular mechanisms implicated in the mechanosensing properties of podosomes in macrophages. Podosomes are a particular adhesion structure devoted to matrix degradation and involved in migration in 3-dimensional environments (Cougoule et al. Blood 2010; Van Goethem et al. J Immunol 2010, Van Goethem et al. EJCB 2011). Our research group develops elastic matrices and films allowing the dynamic measurement of the mechanical properties of podosomes by atomic force microscopy (Labernadie et al. PNAS 2011). In this context, the candidate will develop experiments with cells and elastic matrices to understand how the interplay between rigidity sensing, actin polymerization and actomyosin contraction is regulated and influences podosome functionality. Approaches will involve a combination of atomic force microscopy, micro-contact printing, fluorescence microscopy and image analysis and conventional cell biology. Applicants should be either trained or have experience in biophysics and possibly in cell biology with an orientation towards interdisciplinary work.
The position is open for three years and can start January 1st 2012. Salaries (24000-28000€/year, social security included) are in accordance with the French state public service salary scale.
Applicants should submit a presentation letter, a curriculum vitae including a full list of publications and at least two references by November 30, 2011 to isabelle.maridonneau-parini@ipbs.fr and renaud.poincloux@ipbs.fr. E-mail submissions must include the mailing label ¡°Post-Doctoral position¡±.
