Postdoctoral Scientist
Lung Cancer Research and Circulating Tumour Cells
• Reference Number: PI/11/30 • Salary: £28,500 to £38,000 dependent on previous experience. • 3 year fixed term contract
A three year Cancer Research UK funded Postdoctoral Scientist post is available in the Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology Group at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research & Manchester Cancer Research Centre.
An exciting opportunity is currently available for a motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a large, multidisciplinary, translational research team in their ongoing efforts towards personalised medicine for lung cancer patients. The post holder will characterise the biology of circulating tumour cells (CTCs) from lung cancer patients and continue our work to establish the utility of CTCs as biomarkers in Clinical Trials of novel anticancer drugs. The post holder will be also integrated into project teams examining the preclinical pharmacology of novel drugs approaching early clinical testing at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The ideal applicant will have a PhD in Biological Sciences and skills in molecular and cell biology. Some experience of lung cancer research and/or the biology of tumour invasion and metastasis would confer a significant advantage.
