Job Description
DRI’s Division of Earth and Ecosystem Sciences, Las Vegas, NV, is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate the geomicrobiology of deep subsurface habitats altered by nuclear detonations and the possibility that deep life may be supported by radiochemical reactions at DOE sites. Specific project objectives will include microbial community and genomic assessments of radioactive and non-radioactive groundwater and rock samples, cultivation and characterization of relevant microbial physiotypes, and the development of laboratory microcosms.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in microbiology, molecular ecology, or an affiliated field and a history of research and scholarly productivity. Candidates with experience in bioinformatics or radiochemistry and the ability to meet DOE site access requirements are especially desired.
