Prospective PhD candidates are sought for a project on the formulation of epid
emiological models of infectious diseases and studying the transmission / cont
rol of the diseases. A good background in dynamic systems and scientific progr
amming is desirable. The project is supervised by

Excellent candidates are encouraged to also apply for the Hong Kong PhD Fellow
ship (HKPF) through the University of Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship consists of a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (appro
ximately US$2,600) with addition of a conference and research related travel a
llowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year to each awardee for a
period of three years. For awardees who need more than three years to complete
their PhD studies, additional support may be provided by the chosen instituti
