The National Bioenergy Center at NREL has an opening for a full time Postdoctoral Researcher. The initial appointment is for one year, with possible renewal. Job Duties Successful candidates will use metabolic engineering tools to integrate new pathways into engineered strains for production of renewable fuels and chemicals from biomass-derived intermediates. The successful candidate will be able to work independently. The requirements for this position include generation of novel, engineered strains and authorship of peer-reviewed publications. Required Education and Experience Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years. Additional Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes A recent Ph.D. (less than 3 years) in Biological Engineering, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with aerobic and anaerobic fermentation, metabolic flux analysis, analytical chemistry, conversion of sugars to value-added products, biochemical engineering, knowledge of key metabolic pathways, ability to communicate scientific results effectively, both written and oral, and the ability to work effectively in a large, multidisciplinary team of engineers, chemists, and biologists.
